It’s strange how clearly, we can see the wrong path — how it leads to pain, how it pushes away people we love, how it slowly eats us from the inside. And yet, we walk it. Again and again.
We tell ourselves “this is the last time.” We make promises, not just to others, but to ourselves. We break those promises. Sometimes it feels like we’re trapped in a loop — make mistake, feel regret, promise change, repeat.
And in the process, we lose things we never thought we could live without. People we thought would stay forever slowly drift away, tired of the same repeated cycle we swore we’d end. And you can’t even blame them... because how long can someone hold onto hope when the pattern never changes?
But here’s the thing: this is not a post to blame or bash anyone. This is just a moment of self-realization — a raw note to myself, maybe to someone else who feels the same way.
Why do we continue doing what we know breaks us?
Maybe because change is hard. Maybe because we’re scared to face the reality of who we’ve become. Maybe because sometimes... destruction feels easier than discipline.
But enough is enough.
At some point, we have to stop romanticizing the struggle and actually break the cycle. Not just with words, but with action. Not just for the people we love, but for the person in the mirror.
Because some people won’t wait forever. And some things, once broken, don’t come back.
So, here’s to choosing better — even if we fail a few more times along the way. At least let’s be walking towards healing, not away from it.
